The Full Moon is the midpoint of the lunar cycle - at this stage of the cycle we are called to look at the full picture of what it is that we are working towards or dealing with in our life.
When Grandmother Moon reaches 100% illumination there is not much that will remain hidden from us. At the same time, if we focus too much on one area we will be doing ourselves a disservice because we will effectively be preventing ourselves from seeing the full picture, which is where the details reside. Be mindful of what it is that you’re working on or have in front of you, but also pay attention to what’s taking place around you as this will also inform the overall situation.
At the Full Moon and up to two to three days after, the energies are great for finishing up the task at hand - the projects and tasks that we’ve been working on since the New Moon or even from an earlier cycle - remember not everything that is started at the New Moon is meant to be completed by the Full Moon of the same lunar cycle; each project has its own time frame and life cycle, yet we sometimes forget that this is the case and attempt to take on way too much, which leads to overwhelm as well as physical, emotional and mental dis-ease.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, panicky or anxious, take some time and see what ACTUALLY needs to get done, and leave the rest for another time. Leave some space in your schedule for YOU as your sleep may be affected. Unresolved emotions usually surface at this time in the lunar cycle, so ensure that you factor in some you-time so that you can recharge your batteries.
♋ Cancer energies…
Cancer embodies the energies of the healer, the home-maker and the nurturer. When you think of the quintessential mother-figure, Cancer is the energy most closely associated with those qualities.
Cancer is often known as the homebody, preferring to be at home rather than out-and-about, ideally having everyone they love over for a nurturing meal and spending some quality time together.
Emotional in nature, they do have the tendency to emotionally manipulate others to ensure that their idealised vision of the perfect family life is shown to the world, they might not often be aware that beneath the surface things are anything but ideal. Their focus is on having things running smoothly within the household so much so that they lose touch with the reality of the situation which might be a group of very disconnected people living under the same roof.
They mean well and have good intentions, but their delivery more often than not is misdirected and self-serving - they believe that if they’re doing well, then everyone else in the house/family should be too.
Their motto could very well be ‘it’s because I love you that...’ think Marie Barone, the matriarch in Everybody Loves Raymond and you’ll get a good idea of these energies.
🌕 Full Moon in ♋ Cancer energies…
This Cancer Full Moon is also a penumbral lunar eclipse - lunar because it occurs at the Full Moon which is when the Sun and the Moon are on opposite sides of the Earth. During a penumbral eclipse, an imperfect alignment of the Sun, the Earth and the Moon takes place. You can find out if this eclipse is visible where you are as well as the times that it will be taking place here.
Grandmother Moon reaches 100% illumination at 6.21am AEDT which is during the time of the maximum eclipse. During an eclipse emotions are heightened, potentially more than usual, lunar lore also speaks of things being hidden during the slight dimming of the Moon’s light.
My intuitive impression of this is that as one thing is slightly hidden, something else comes to the fore, so don’t be surprised if something that you thought you’d dealt with re-surfaces with intensity within the 24-48 hour period before and after the eclipse - and yes, eclipses do tend to have a six-month window, so if you’re not tying up loose ends, you could be tapping into a new layer of something that’s in need of love, attention and affection.
Wherever you are on your journey is ripe for healing to take place, should you choose it of course - we always have the ability to choose to linger where we are or to opt for healing instead. Both options have the potential to be challenging - one has benefits and the other has pay-offs.
At this first Full Moon of the year we are wading in the waters of the emotions - deep emotions, again, we come face to face with wounds left or created by the Mother in all her forms and guises. We are craving attention from her, we want to be the good child, we want to be acknowledged, we want to be seen, heard and accepted for who we are, yet we do not give these things to ourselves. We each have the option to choose to look within, to do the inner work, as challenging and as uncomfortable as it may be, so that we can break through this wounding - not only for ourselves - in all dimensions of space and time, but for the generations that have come before, those that are here now, and those that are yet to come.
There is deep karmic healing available to those who are brave enough to venture into the dark recesses of the psyche.
On a symbolic level, the energies are great for doing things around the home, to make it more homely, or to simply give it a good clean to clear out last year’s energies. I feel called to speak of the immense pressure that we put on ourselves to have everything up and running, to ensure that all of our goals are set for the year ahead, and somehow still find time to entertain guests, rest, travel, clean and do all of the other things that we feel we need to cram into our schedules at this time of the year.
Phew, it was intense just writing that - did you feel the energies and pressure building as you read those last few lines? Now, take a breath...close your eyes and take a few more.
Feel better? Good! Now let’s get back to it…
At this Full Moon we are also feeling the weight of our burdens - be they limiting beliefs, expectations, tasks and jobs that we need to complete - or do we? There’s still so much that many want to bring into the New Year, yet this year is unlike any other - this year (and I’ll delve into it in my 2020 Tarot Numerology post over the next few days) is one where we are called to action. We can no longer sit idly by, hoping and praying that things will happen; it’s our time to make shift happen and the time is NOW.
I don’t mean to hurry you along - this has nothing to do with me, it’s your journey and your call, but if you’ve already made the decision to show up and step up for yourself this year - and I know you have, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this - then, it’s time to drop the excuses, it’s time to re-evaluate our stories and to gather the pearls of wisdom that they have brought to us.
It’s not so much about pushing everything aside as we tend to our inner work, that was the old paradigm, the new energetic template that is now beginning to hold steady is stable enough to withstand our growth, our deep dives into the inner realms, and the expansion that is simultaneously available to us. You’ve heard me say for sometime now, that time is not linear, and now, neither is our healing - sure, we may need down time to integrate certain shifts, but we are largely able to simultaneously heal, integrate, expand, delve and do all of the miraculous things that our Soul is capable of (and is asking for) in all dimensions of space and time in which it resides and travels through.
Yes, we have reached the next dimension, and yes, it’s absolutely time to understand the old ways that have brought us to where we now stand - on the precipice of so much more than we can even begin to imagine. We are being gifted with the ability to detach from the old, whilst working on integrating and assimilating the new, all the while, evolving in quantum leaps as we do so.
This post is quite different to my other Moon Energy posts, but as always, I have surrendered to the energies that are ready to stream through, and I know that they will reach those who are ready, and even for those who aren’t quite there yet, these healing energies will make their way to where they are needed.
Increase your awareness of Self - do your best to leave behind what no longer matters, be gentle with yourself when you struggle to do so, and know that you are loved, guided and supported always and in all ways.
